Everyone knows that getting link backs is essential to promoting your blog. This article, outlining Top 5 tips for getting backlinks to your websites gives some pretty good advice. However, I have a couple of tips of my own.
1. Put a contact form on your site that is designed for people wanting to exchange links. Seriously. A lot of times, we don’t make our email addresses known thanks to spammers. I’ve sent out plenty of forms about link exchanges for my sites. They’re great, and they’re easy to use.
2. One of the things not mentioned is that sometimes, forums are a great way to get backlinks. You can add your website link to your signature, and some forums even have link exchange threads. GeekySpeaky Forums are a good example of this. They have a link exchange thread on the forum. You can post a request for people to visit your site and see if they’d like to exchange links. Of course, make sure that the forums you frequent allow this type of posting, to be sure that you are not considered to be spamming the forum.
3. If you come up with great posts that people love to read, you’ll get backlinks without really trying. People will link to articles they love, and even the entire site if there are several they love.
4. Send out the linky love. Yes you read that right. Send out the linky love. People who use WordPress automatically get lists of sites linking to their blogs on their dashboards. If you send out some linky love, then when they log in, they’ll see it and they can visit and maybe even give you a link back. Try to do a linky love post at least once a week. Even if you only have one or two sites to link up to at the moment.
5. Don’t be afraid to use trackbacks! Often when you use a trackback, you’ll get the person who wrote the article you linked to come to your site. And if they like what they read, they’ll most likely link to your site as well.
There you have it. My five tips for obtaining backlinks. I hope you find these tips, as well as the ones in the article mentioned above helpful.
